LEARNING COACH EXPECTATIONS

Overview 

This section is designed to give parents guidelines on how to support their child(ren) with online learning. There are three things to keep in mind as you navigate the new normal of virtual school. They are learner content interaction, learner instructor interaction, and learner to learner interaction. All three will be our focus for our virtual classroom interaction between administrators, coaches, parents, students and community support.

K-5 Parents/Guardians Online Learning Tips

• Login to EdOptions and read the Teaching Notes daily; this is your guide for the child’s learning each day.
• Create a dedicated classroom space for daily learning.
• Create a daily schedule to remain consistent throughout the school year.
• Take brain breaks.
• Take time to have free play.
• Take time for family fun activities.
• Make sure your child has the technology.
• Make sure your child has materials for academic activities.
• Read each day.
• Write down username and passwords.
• Schedule online conferences with teachers.
• Team up with other parents in the FLEX ACADEMY.

6-8 Parents/Guardians Online Learning Tips

• Check your child’s attendance daily.
• Discuss the daily learning with your child.
• Check to ensure no inappropriate technology usage is happening.
• Practice good time management.
• Write down username and passwords.

9-12 Parents/Guardians Online Learning Tips

• Create a dedicated classroom space for daily learning.
• Make sure your child has the technology.
• Check your child’s attendance daily.
• Use all resources to support your child’s learning.
• Create and organize your google calendar.
• Make sure your child familiarizes  himself/herself with Google Classroom.
• Make sure your child attends all webinars to enhance learning.
• Encourage your child to join online study groups with peers.
• Set aside time to discuss positive internet usage with your child.
• Stay in touch with your child’s zoned school counselor to ensure that your child is on track to graduate.
